Multiple felony charges have been filed against a 43-year-old Sedalia man for allegedly shooting a woman and refusing to drop a weapon while walking toward law-enforcement officers on December 7 in Moniteau County.
A probable-cause statement says Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators were notified of a shooting that took place in the 400 block of High Street in Tipton. The suspect was identified as Bobby Joe Moore. He is alleged to have shot a woman multiple times with a pistol and assaulted another woman at that scene.
A second shooting occurred in the 100 block of West Cooper Street in Tipton. During that incident, a Tipton Police officer reportedly discharged his firearm in the performance of his duties and struck Moore. Authorities say despite several commands, Moore refused to drop a weapon in his hand. He instead reportedly started walking toward law-enforcement officers, and one of the officers fired five rounds, striking Moore.
Updated conditions of Moore and the victim of the first shooting are not available.
According to court documents, Moore has been charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree, Causing Serious Physical Injury; Class D Felonies for Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting; and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. No bond is allowed pending Moore’s arraignment hearing, which is pending at Moniteau County Circuit Court.
