Two Moberly residents have been charged with felonies after an alleged escape attempt in Chariton County on December 5.
According to a probable-cause statement, Nichole Parsley was placed into custody of the Chariton County Sheriff and a deputy pursuant to a judge’s order in the courtroom after she tested positive for three controlled substances. While law-enforcement officers were escorting Parsley out of the courthouse, she reportedly pulled away, slipped her hand out of one side of the cuffs and ran.
Parsley reportedly was picked up in a vehicle by Tony Dean Martin. They eluded law-enforcement officers for a while; but they eventually were arrested just inside the city limits of Marceline.
Court documents say Martin has been charged with a Class B Felony for Aiding Escape of a Prisoner Confined for a Felony. Bond has been fixed at $1,500 cash only. In addition to the charges she was facing in the court case that day, Parsley has been charged with a Class E Felony for Escape or Attempted Escape from Custody While Under Arrest for Felony. Bond has not been set.
Each subject’s initial hearing is pending at Chariton County Circuit Court.
