Authorities are investigating after receiving the report of a stolen firearm.
A news release from the Marshall Police Department says a resident in the 700 block of West Yerby Street reported he walked out to his vehicle at noon on Saturday, December 28, and his handgun was missing from the back of his vehicle. The man said the last time he knew he had possession of the firearm was at the firing range in Concordia at 5 p.m. on November 15. He also said he traveled to some other cities- including Independence, Sedalia and Slater- over the time frame between then and when he noticed the firearm missing.
The man told authorities he keeps his vehicle locked, and there were no signs of forced entry.
The man provided authorities with a receipt for the firearm.
