The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that nobody died in a traffic crash during the 30-hour 2020 New Year’s holiday counting period.
A news release says last year there were 11 fatalities during the much longer 102-hour counting period. The 2020 counting period ran from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1.
This year, troopers investigated 72 crashes, which included 34 injuries. There were 56 persons arrested for Driving While Impaired.
There were no boating fatalities and no drownings.
During the 2019 counting period, there were 1,301 traffic crashes, which included 447 injuries and 11 fatalities. Troopers made 130 arrests for Driving While Impaired. There were no boating crashes, and nobody drowned.
