A 21-year-old Fayette man made his initial appearance in court on Friday, January 3.
According to court documents, Alfredo Demario Hicks Jr. waived his formal arraignment. The court has ordered no bond.
Hicks is charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the First Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old John L. Turner, of Poplar Bluff on December 30 in Fayette. Authorities found Turner deceased inside his vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound at approximately 1:30 p.m. Authorities also received reports of another subject running from the vehicle, who they identified as Hicks.
The investigation- conducted by the Fayette Police Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad- is ongoing. Hicks’ is next due for a hearing to set the time and date for his preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, at Howard County Circuit Court.
