A Marshall man accused of murdering a Slater resident nearly two years ago has a court proceeding scheduled this week.

According to court documents, Adam McAlister is being held for allegedly killing 31-year-old Lance Gibson on March 9, 2018.

His charges originally were a Class A Felony for Second-Degree Murder and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $500,000 cash only. Motions made by McAlister’s attorney to have his bond reduced have been denied by the court.

McAlister, who is now 32 years old, entered a plea of not guilty in June 2018 and May 2019.

McAlister’s jury trial was scheduled to be held in March 2019, but was canceled at that time.

During his hearing on November 25, 2019, his cause was remanded back to the associate division for probable-cause determination of additional counts in the amended felony information.

A hearing is scheduled to set the time and date for McAlister’s preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Monday, January 13, at Saline County Circuit Court.
