An inmate at an area correctional facility has been charged with a felony for allegedly having a homemade knife inside his cell.
According to a probable-cause statement, on January 2, an officer at the Pettis County Jail was told by another inmate there was a “shank” in L-POD. After all inmates were removed from their cells, authorities say they found an object in a styrofoam lid that was held against a wall with toothpaste. The item appeared to have been filed down to make a sharp edge.
On January 3, Hunter Osborne, of Warsaw, reportedly told authorities he made the homemade knife from a broken deodorant stick container.
Court documents say a warrant has been requested and Osborne has been charged with a Class B Felony for Possession of a Weapon at a County Jail. Bond has not been set yet.
Osborne’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
