A 31-year-old Sedalia man has been charged with a felony for allegedly not returning more than $2,300 worth of rented property.
A probable-cause statement alleges Anthony Melton failed to return a Dell laptop, an LG TV and a Stream Smart device to National TV Sales and Rental.
The rental agreement reportedly ended on October 19, 2019, and the business reportedly has attempted to recover the property and contact Melton every day since but has not been successful. A certified letter also reportedly was sent to the address on file, but it was returned.
Court documents say a warrant has been requested and Melton has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing Leased or Rented Equipment. Bond has not been set yet.
An initial hearing for Melton is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
