The city of Sedalia has received a TRIM grant through the Missouri Department of Conservation for completion of a partial tree re-inventory along certain street right-of-ways on public property.
A news release says Davey Resource Group, the city’s contractor, started collection on January 14 of tree data from three areas having the approximate boundaries of: the north city limits to Third St. on the south and Limit Ave. (U.S. Highway 65) on the west to Mill Street on the east; Third Street on the north to Broadway Avenue on the south and Osage Avenue on the west to Marshall Avenue on the east; and Boonville Street on the north to the Union Pacific Railroad on the south and Mill Street on the west to Heard Street on the east.
The anticipated number of trees is approximately 1,926.
The entire tree re-inventory data collection process should be completed by January 31. Data collected will include, but is not limited to: location, species, tree size, stems, condition, location rating, primary maintenance needs, secondary maintenance needs, risk assessment, risk rating and observations.
Davey Resource Group workers will not be inventorying trees on private property and will not need to make contact with residents. However, should you be concerned about someone in your area, you can identify Davey Resource Group workers, as they will be wearing high-visibility safety vests and will have Davey Resource Group identification cards available upon request.
Any questions should be directed to the Public Works Department at (660) 827-3000, extension 1166.
