Saline County Assessor Jessica Goodman was at the meeting of the county commission on Thursday, January 16, and said personal and business renditions for 2020 were mailed out on Tuesday, January 14.
Goodman said this year her office sent out a total of 9,546 assessments, which she says “was quite an increase from last year. We added 300 businesses to our assessment roll that were not paying business personal property (tax). So, they will get renditions this year. We actually took the merchants’ license list and cross-referenced it with the city license list in order to make sure we’ve included all of the businesses that we have; and those were the ones that were added.”
Goodman says this year’s process of returning your renditions could be a lot easier and quicker for residents than in the past.

However, Goodman explained e-filing is only available for personal property and not business.
Goodman said e-filing is a process that avoids the return of your rendition perhaps getting lost in the mail.

Goodman said her office already has received quite a few assessments back. “I opened my e-mail this morning, and it was pretty full. I’m glad to see people are using it.”
According to information on the county’s website, you are required by law to list all personal property belonging to you or under your control on January 1. You need to get the rendition returned or e-filed by March 1 to avoid a penalty.
