A 33-year-old Blue Springs man is facing multiple felony charged after he allegedly led law enforcement on a high-speed chase in a reported stolen vehicle on Wednesday, January 15, in Lafayette County.
Authorities say the chase was terminated on Route FF due to the suspect driving dangerously, passing other vehicles and topping hills on the wrong side of the roadway. Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle was located off the road in a tree line. Later, a suspicious person was reported in that area, and arrested was John T. Harris IV. Harris allegedly was in possession of five debit/credit cards- two of which belonged to other persons.
Court documents say Harris has been charged with Class D Felonies for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and two counts of Stealing; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony; and a misdemeanor for leaving the scene of an accident. Bond has been set at $75,000 cash only.
Harris entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment hearing on Thursday, January 16. His next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
