An idea that’s been batted around for a while, including field turfing at least one of the two football fields in the Marshall Public School district, is not going to be put before voters in the district.
During the school board meeting on Tuesday, January 21, board member Tim Schulte said he met with coaches, teachers, community members and administrators about the potential project.
Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher said Schulte got a lot of input to see if there was enough support for passing a tax-levy increase.
Dr. Maher says the district has the money for the replacement of the track.
The board voted to approve the replacement of the track.
In other news, Dr. Maher reviewed the 2017 and 2019 lease purchases during the meeting. She also reported work has begun on the MPS Strategic Plan for 2020-25. Committees are being formed, and the administration hopes to be able to present this to the board in June for approval.
