Want a front-row view to see the future?
A news release says Team SCREAM, Smith-Cotton High School’s competitive robotics team, will host the FIRST Robotics Central Missouri Regional competition April 3-5 at the high school. The success of last year’s event was built on the assistance of more than 150 volunteers who helped with everything from concessions to setting up the competition field. Team SCREAM again is reaching out to the community for volunteers for this year’s regional. Volunteers do not need to have any background in robotics to help.
Jennifer Crane, a math teacher at Smith-Cotton High School, served as an on-field volunteer at last year’s regional.
“I teach a lot of students who are on the robotics team,” she said. “By volunteering, I was able to gain a lot of insight on what it takes to have an award-winning team such as ours. It was also very interesting to watch the different robots compete and to see the different strategies that each robot brought to the matches.”
