A Franklin man has been charged with a felony for allegedly leaving the scene of a traffic crash on January 21.
According to a probable cause statement, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was advised of a traffic crash on Route Z in Howard county. Once on the scene, the trooper observed a vehicle off the side south side of Route Z. The vehicle reportedly had impacted a Howard County electric utility pole, which was broken approximately four feet off the ground. The trooper says he was not able to locate the driver of the truck.
A routine computer check revealed the registered owner was Dustin Alan Boggs, whose license was revoked. When contacted by authorities, Boggs reportedly told them he had been sleeping and did not know anything about the crash. He said multiple neighbors borrow his vehicle. However, another person told authorities he picked up Boggs on Route Z approximately one mile from the crash site and gave Boggs a ride to his residence around the time after the crash. The other person also informed authorities that Boggs told him “his truck hit a telephone pole and needed to get ahold of R.E.A. to replace the pole.”
According to court documents, Boggs has been charged with a Class C Felony for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, with Property Damage Exceeding $1,000. Boggs posted percentage bond on January 24.
Boggs initial arraignment is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at Howard County circuit Court.
