More than a dozen arrests have been made by area authorities for alleged drug activity.
According to a news release, after a long-term investigation into the sales of illicit narcotics conducted by the Boonville Police Department and the MUSTANG Drug Task Force, 25 people have been indicted in Cooper County on various drugs offenses.
During the investigation, officers allegedly seized heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and prescription scheduled narcotics. The Boonville Police Department, with the assistance of the Glasgow Police Department, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the MUSTANG Drug Task Force, have arrested 15 people and more arrests are expected. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
Authorities are seeking numerous drug charges. However, nobody arrested has been formally charged at this time. Due to station policy, KMMO News will not release the names of the persons arrested until formal charges have been filed.
