A felony charge has been filed against a Columbia man for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
According to a probable-cause statement, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper arrived to help a stranded motorist, whose vehicle was parked on the median side and partially blocking a lane of I-70 in Cooper County on Thursday, January 30. A computer check of the license plate revealed the vehicle to be reported stolen out of Columbia. Arrested was Olivier Irankunda.
According to court documents, Irankunda has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree. Bond has been fixed at $7,500 cash or surety.
Irankunda’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
