There’s certain to be a lot of red in downtown Kansas City on Wednesday, February 5. The city is going to be celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-20 come-from-behind victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV with the “Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade”.
According to city officials, the parade route along Grand Avenue will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 6th and Walnut. The parade will travel south until it reaches Union Station. The parade is scheduled to last approximately 1.5 hours.
A rally is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. in front of Union Station. The rally is scheduled to last approximately one hour.
The website for the event says “The parade route has been planned with the safety and security of fans in mind. The City anticipates tremendous crowds. With that in mind, City services and business operations will be impacted on Wednesday and Thursday.”
The website says KCATA Park & Ride shuttles will run from 7 a.m.-11:30 a.m., and then again from the end of the rally until the crowd disperses. The locations for park and ride opportunities in Missouri include: Worlds of Fun; The Hyvee Arena in the West Bottoms at 1800 Genessee Street; and the Swope Park Zoo at 6800 Zoo Drive.
Officials say there will be parking restrictions along and around the parade route. These restrictions go into effect at noon on Tuesday, February 4, and extend into the late evening on Wednesday, February 5. Cars parked in temporary no-parking zones and on the interstate will be relocated. If your vehicle has been relocated, you may call (816) 513-0688 for the location. Personal expenses may be incurred if you need to retrieve your vehicle.
