One block party request was approved while two others were postponed during the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, February 3.
There was a disagreement between the owners of Bud’s Cafe and The Brick that led to Bud’s Cafe’s request for approval of an event on May 30 to be tabled at the previous meeting of the council.
Ward 1 Councilman Ron Ott explained a meeting between the two parties and city officials was held and differences were ironed out.

Thus, the request gained its approval from the council.
However, due to the Midwest Hydrocephalus Foundation and Bud’s Cafe requesting block parties in areas very close to each other on September 12, the council was hesitant to approve either or both.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends expressed concern.

The latter two requests were tabled to a future meeting to allow everybody time to get on the same page.
