A public meeting has been scheduled in an area county.
According to a release from Carroll County Presiding Commissioner Stan Falke, the commission will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 10, at the Rupe Center in Carrollton to receive public comment on a request by Feelzgood Products, LLC.
The request is that “Carroll County grant Feelzgood Products, LLC, a 50-percent real-estate tax abatement for a period of 10 years for property located at 4 Municipal Drive in Carrollton.”
Falke explains most of Carroll County is in an economic-enhanced enterprise zone.

Falke says “Medical marijuana is a topic that is still being debated in the public. So, we just want to get a feel for what the public thinks about the county providing any additional tax abatement, over and above the 50 percent mandated by state statute.”
Falke says that within the framework of this enhanced enterprise zone, there is a seven-member board, “and they have certain responsibilities to report to the state economic development council. We’re going to use them as a sounding board and advisory board, as well. This board will take in all of the information and take a recommendation to the commissioners, and the three commissioners will make the ultimate decision on how much, if any, and for what period of time, if any, that they will add to the tax abatement over and above what the state allows.”
Falke says the county has some time to make its final decision.
