On Tuesday, 38-year-old Matthew Guilford led authorities on a high speed chase that ended in Marshall and resulted in his arrest. He was wanted for felony warrant out of Linn County as well as a Federal Parole Violation warrant.
Guilford was on the run out of Linn County after authorities tried to pull him over near Laclede. Initial reports indicate the pursuit of the red Silverado pick up truck began just before 3 p.m. Tuesday and ended nearly a hour later in Marshall.
Following Tuesday’s incident, Guilford is charged with a Class A Felony for Assualt in the 1st Degree or Attempt-Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim, an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action, Class E Felonies for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing-Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death to Any Person and Resisting Arrest for A Felony and a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35-grams or less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid.
Bond for the original felony charges of Drug Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance is set at $50,000 cash only. At the time of this story, no bond has been set for the most recent charges stemming from Tuesday’s pursuit.
His initial arraignment for these new charges as well as the original charges is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14 at Linn County Circuit Court.
