The Missouri Valley College Cheer Team won its fourth straight Heart of America Athletic Conference championship on Saturday, February 15, in Olathe, Kansas.
According to MVC, the Cheer Team earned a 78.65 score, beating second-place Central Methodist (73.86) by nearly five points. Benedictine was third with a 69.52.
Since 2011, the MVC Cheer Team has won the league title eight times, including titles during 2011-14.
Six members of this year’s MVC Cheer Team were recognized on the all-conference team: seniors Brooklyn Girten and Tori Pimentel; junior Jazmyn Zielenski; sophomores Amy Meyers and Kendrick Rivera; and freshman Rylee Mills.
The Valley Dance Team finished seventh with a score of 55.56. Baker won the league title with an 84.31.
Up next for the Cheer and Dance Teams is the CMU Invitational. The events begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, in Fayette.
