A 35-year-old Marshall man who has been charged with multiple felonies has a court proceeding scheduled for this week.
Luis Lerma turned himself in to authorities on January 7. He was wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Knob Noster and subsequent high-speed pursuit that ended in Marshall on January 3.
Upon officers’ arrival at the scene of the shooting in the 600 block of Elm Street, they found 39-year-old Quincy Thomas had suffered a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Lerma has been charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Serious Physical Injury; a Class D Felony for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. The court’s order of no bond remains.
Lerma was arraigned on January 8. A case review is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19; and a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
