U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II was on hand with USDA Rural Development Missouri State Director Jeff Case to present Marshall Municipal Utilities a plaque commemorating its effort to secure a Rural Broadband Reconnect grant and loan totaling more than $1 million during a ceremony in Marshall on Tuesday, February 18.
Case, who was appointed by President Donald Trump in 2017, explained this program is big for rural Missouri.

Congressman Cleaver said this is an example of people working together for a common goal.

MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom thanked them for their support and the help from Saline County Commissioners, including Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden.

By expanding its current service area, an additional 21 pre-subscribed farms, 18 pre-subscribed businesses, 763 households, a private school and a nursing home will have access to broadband within about a two-mile radius outside the Marshall city limits.
