During the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Tuesday, February 18, Mayor Julie Schwetz suggested the council be thinking about putting together a proposal for some kind of guidelines relating to AIR BnB establishments.

Schwetz said the city has nothing specifically for those type of rental properties. She said the only thing the city has is a special-use permit for tourist homes, which limits occupancy to six.
Ward 3 Councilman Dan Brandt said currently situations are being held on a case-by-case basis.

Schwetz continued: “Because right now, they issue the special-use permit, but there’s no coming back and reviewing it say in 12 months to find out what the neighbors think (or) have there been any problems?”
The council will revisit the issue during a future meeting.
