A 56-year-old Boonville man has been charged with felonies relating to a burglary last year.
According to authorities, on March 3, the Eagles Lodge on 11th Street was broken into, and the safe was stolen. Eagles Lodge representatives estimated the value of the safe at $500 and $5,060 cash inside.
On December 9, during an interview with authorities, Randy Glen Stewart confessed that he was the perpetrator of this burglary and theft. He described intricate details of the crime, which only the perpetrator would know, indicating that he made the unlawful forced entry into the building. He indicated he cut open the safe with a gas-powered cutoff saw and found there was $4,200 cash inside. He indicated he discarded parts of the safe in a field in rural Cooper County.
Stewart has been charged with Class D Felonies for Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing of $750 or More. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Stewart pleaded not guilty on February 18. His next hearing is set for 9 a.m. on March 9 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
