An area law-enforcement agency is investigating after an apparent shooting death.

According to a news release, at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, Sedalia Police officers responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street on the report of a man lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased white male- identified as Robert G. Fox Jr. He suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation is under way.
