To celebrate National FFA Week, KMMO and Blumhorst Veterinary Hospital are working together to highlight the many benefits area youth receive through FFA involvement.

Dr. Blumhorst was born and raised in Saline County and has operated a successful business for over 40 years.  During that time, he has observed significant changes which prompted him to reflect upon his own life.  It was during this reflection he realized how important the FFA and in particular learning the FFA creed has been to him personally.  Specifically his time in the FFA taught him the value of patriotism; the value of organization and discipline; the value of manners and respect; and how to manage money.

Recognizing a need to encourage and support FFA programs throughout Missouri, last year Dr. Blumhorst started cold calling high schools to see if he could speak to their Greenhands and share his life experiences.   So far Dr. Blumhorst has driven approximately 1,500 miles and presented to 14 high schools reaching over 300 FFA members.  If your FFA program would like to schedule Dr. Blumhorst, please call his office at 660-886-5536.

Be sure to listen each Monday to the KMMO Ag Reports with Larry Smith and Dr. Blumhorst.  For your convenience, the full length interview can be heard by clicking the audio file below this story.
