Formal charges have been filed and bond has been set at six figures for a 28-year-old Sedalia man who allegedly shot another person on Saturday, February 22.
A report says Sedalia Police officers responded to South Engineer Avenue and East 13th Street at about 9:28 p.m. in reference to a shooting incident, where officers found a 49-year-old man who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest with a small-caliber weapon. The victim received medical attention on the scene and was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for further treatment.
An investigation revealed a confrontation between the victim and Michael Ray Carpenter had occurred; and Carpenter was arrested.
Carpenter has been charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Serious Physical Injury; a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been fixed at $100,000 cash or surety.
Carpenter was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, February 24. An update is not available at this time. His next hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
