Two Jackson County residents have been charged with felonies in connection to an alleged robbery involving a weapon in Lafayette County on February 16.
According to a probable-cause statement, two persons reported to authorities two men contacted them and came to a house in Odessa. At one point, they say one of the men pulled a handgun from his waist and “racked a round.” They say the gun was pointed at one of them, and the men stole an AR-15 rifle and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. The victims identified the possible suspects.
Brandon Eugene Dyer, of Blue Springs, and Tanner James Vanbuskirk, of Raytown, each has been charged with a Class A Felony for Robbery in the First Degree. Additionally, Dyer has been charged with a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; two counts of a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. The court has ordered no bond for Dyer. Vanbuskirk’s bond has been fixed at $50,000 cash only.
Dyer entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment on Monday, February 24. His next hearing is pending. Vanbuskirk’s initial hearing is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
