A Sweet Springs man was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Lafayette County just after midnight on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened when 19-year-old Joseph Cox, of Sweet Springs, overcorrected his eastbound vehicle, after it had traveled off the south side of the road. The vehicle then traveled off the north side of the street, and struck an embankment.
Cox reportedly received moderate injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Cox’s passenger, 17-year-old Hunter Thompson, of Sweet Springs received serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment. Neither of the vehicles occupants were wearing a safety device.
The crash happened just after midnight on Highway AA at Harrison Road.
