A 22-year-old Waverly man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Lafayette County on Sunday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as Zachery Johnson failed to stop his southbound vehicle at an intersection, and it was struck as it traveled into the path of an eastbound Kenworth, driven by 39-year-old Jefrey Moffat, of Waverly.

Johnson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for treatment. Moffat was not injured.

The crash happened at 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and Bluff Road.
