Marshall Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher sent out a news release, updating the community on the bedbug situation in the district.
The release says: “As you know, we cleaned and treated the area affected in the high school yesterday (Monday, March 2). At the time, I spoke to the radio, I thought the heating treatment would be at the same time. Mike Varner’s message has clarified that. Although he is at home with the flu, here is his message:
“The area that the bedbug was found was treated. Custodians cleaned all rooms and (the) building with the sanitation guns yesterday. Carpet cleaning will happen Saturday on the room and that hallway.”
Dr. Maher’s statement continues: “The heating treatment will be applied this weekend.”
Dr. Maher’s release includes several invoices from Steve’s Pest Control. She says the total projected cost for treatments on February 14 and 24 and March 2 is $11,168.
Dr. Maher says, still, it’s good for everybody to remain diligent: “Please continue to be observant and let us know immediately if you even think you see a bedbug.”
