Personnel were called in from Johnson County to diffuse a possible explosive in Carroll County on Monday, March 9.
According to a release from Carrollton Chief of Police Christopher Looney, the department was contacted by an individual who believed they were in possession of a Military Explosive Ordinance, and the device was in their vehicle at a local business.
Officers gathered information about the device and determined that there was a potential risk based upon the description given. The police department summoned in Military Explosive Ordinance personnel from Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster.
Upon the arrival of EOD personnel, it was determined that the device was a Military Explosive, and the area was cordoned off for safety purposes. The device was safely collected for destruction.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office also assisted during the incident.
