Big bucks were raised to support a statewide organization thanks to a frigid event.
According to a news release, the 7th Annual Polar Plunge on March 7 in Rolla was a splashing success, raising $27,660 to date.
A total of 17 people participated in the Polar Bear Strut 5K; and 100 brave persons from around the area donned costumes and swimwear to take a chilly dip at Fugitive Beach. Their Reason for Freezin’ was the athletes of Special Olympics Missouri.

This year’s event was held in conjunction with Rolla P.D. and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I.
