A 36-year-old Boonville man is facing a felony after officers say they found drug related items in the man’s residence.
The Boonville Police Department reports, officers were dispatched at 5:40 p.m. to a residence on East Walnut Street in response to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke with a female witness, who stated that her and Andrew Michael had gotten into a verbal dispute due to Michael allegedly being intoxicated and wanting to leave the residence.
The witness told authorities she had agreed to leave the residence since Michael did not have a driver’s license. The witness mentioned that she wanted to take her child with her but Michael would not allow her to gain access to the child.
Once officers made contact with Michael, and entered the home, officers detected the smell of what they believed to be marijuana. When Michael was asked about the smell, he became irate and combative and demanded officers leave the residence.
Officers conducted search of the residence and found a total of 14-grams of marijuana, digital scales, evidence of an indoor grow to include three lights and three budded plants that smelled and looked like marijuana plants. There was also several glass devices used for the consumption of the plant. The residence at 205 E. Walnut was found to be 1,650 feet from a school and 500 feet from the YMCA.
Michael is charged with a Class B Felony for Manufacture Of A Controlled Substance – Within 2000 Ft Of School Or College.
A Warrant has been issued and bond for Michael has been set at $15,000 cash or surety. His initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
