A Blackwater man is facing several felony charges following a shooting incident in Cooper County on Monday, March 16.
According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded the report of shots fired in the 18,000 block of Wildcliff Court. The incident occurred when 61-year-old Michael William Danner arrived at the residence, uninvited and reportedly intoxicated. Witnesses state Danner made several threats that he was going to kill at least one of the residents at that location with a firearm that he had in his possession.
Deputies were notified, while en-route to the scene of the crime that Danner had returned to his home. When deputies arrived at Danner’s residence, he surrenders to authorities without incident. Danner proceeded to admit to deputies that he had, in fact, shot into the ceiling at his parent’s home after being in a verbal dispute and allegedly being shot at by his nephew.
Deputies recovered the handgun from Danner’s truck and four shell casings from near the doorway at the home located at 18600 Wildcliff Court.
Danner is charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the 1st Degree or Attempt, a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $75,000 cash or surety.
A Counsel Status Hearing in his case is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
