The Glasgow school board approved several measures during its meeting on Wednesday, March 18. Some of the items approved involved money to be spent by the district.
According to meeting minutes, the board opened sealed request proposals for lawn maintenance services. Two bids were received. Before opening the proposals, superintendent Sonya Fuemmeler shared the estimated cost if the district would continue to do its own mowing and grounds maintenance beginning in the next few weeks and running through the fall. The estimated cost for lawn and ground maintenance included an annual mower payment, weedeater and mower, fuel and an hourly rate of pay. The estimate was $9,550. After review of the bids, the board decided to continue using district employees and equipment to maintain the district grounds.
The current lease for the John Deere zero-turn mower expires in April 2020. After discussing lease-versus-purchase options, the board voted to approve the purchase of a 2020 John Deere Z970R ZTrak mower for $13,000 from Sydenstricker John Deere in Columbia.
After reviewing two quotes for a 72-inch blade to use on the gator, the board voted to table the purchase until closer to the winter snow season.
