Personnel in an area school district will be getting a bump in their salary.
According to minutes from the Glasgow School board meeting on Wednesday, March 18, the board approved an increase to the base pay on the salary schedule by $500, thereby setting the base at $33,000; and approved a three-percent increase for non-certified staff and those not on the salary schedule. This increase will help offset the 13.9-percent increase that faculty and staff will see in health-insurance cost for next year. The board also voted to stay with Missouri Education Health Group for the 2020-21 school year.
The board received an update on the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the school district and voted to continue paying all certified and non-certified faculty and staff as the Missouri Department of Education has assured all districts the district will continue to receive its regular monthly payments.
In other news, the board approved an amendment to the 2020-21 school calendar. This amendment allows for 1,105 hours of instruction, and will eliminate the need to add days to the calendar in case of dismissal for bad weather. The calendar has changed to dismiss school at noon on Friday, March 12, rather than noon on Thursday, March 11, for Spring Break; and move the last day of school from noon on Thursday, May 20, to noon on Friday, May 21.
The board also approved the extension of contracts to all certified faculty for the 2020-21 school year. In addition, the board approved to move Nicole Sherman to a half-teaching time position next year and the hiring of Bethany DuCharme and Mary Ann Hudson for elementary teacher positions. The board also approved the hiring of Kelly Kallmeyer to teach part-time Title 1 for the district’s dually-enrolled students at St. Mary’s. The board also accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Natalie Monnig at the conclusion of the 2019-20 school year.
