Wednesday 22nd October 2025

As of Sunday, March 22, there are no positive cases of Covid-19 in Marshall or Saline County, according to a release from Marshall Mayor Julie Schwetz.
She says this does not mean that we can let our guard down. We must remain vigilant about adhering to the Governor’s Order, which will be enforced by our Saline County Health Department:
–No social gatherings of more than 10 people;
–No dining in at restaurants, bars or food courts; however, Schwetz urges residents to support the eating establishments by carry-out, drive-thru or delivery;
–No visits to nursing homes, longterm-care facilities, retirement homes or assisted living homes unless to provide critical assistance; and
–Schools are closed, except to provide childcare and food and nutrition services for those children who qualify. Teacher and staff may enter following social distance guidelines.
This Order does not prohibit people from visiting a variety of places, including grocery stores, gas stations, parks and banks, so long as necessary precautions are taken and maintained to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining at least six feet of distance between all individuals who are not family members.
For offices and workplaces that remain open, individuals shall practice good hygiene and, where feasible, work from home in order to achieve optimum isolation from COVID-19. Schwetz says the more that people reduce their public contact, the sooner COVID-19 will be contained and the sooner this Order will expire. The Order is in effect until April 6.
Schwetz says we can help our city departments by avoiding sewer backups and flush toilet paper only, and place all trash in plastic bags. Citizens, let’s do our very best to stop the spread, keep our community healthy, and ease the burden of our health-care and retail workers. We all want to be able to celebrate spring, school and business-as-usual as soon as possible.
