Due to the shortage of toilet paper, Marshall Municipal Utilities has received an increase in calls for sewer backups.
MMU says backups have been on the homeowner’s service (“private” side) of the sewer system. Residents are urged to not treat other items like toilet paper.
You are urged to not flush paper towels, “flushable” wipes, napkins, shop towels, tampons, cotton balls, dental floss or other items into your sewer. Flushing non-biodegradable items can result in backups or overflows and require a plumber to repair.
The availability of plumbers’ services may be limited, and repair of your service line could be delayed- not to mention expensive.
If you have any questions, call MMU at (660) 886-6966.
