A 24-year-old Sedalia man is facing a felony charge for allegedly sending sexually-explicit pictures of himself through social media to a juvenile female.
According to a probable-cause statement, the mother of a 14-year-old girl told authorities her daughter had been exchanging nude photos with male subjects and talking about having sexual relationships with them. One of the conversations was through Facebook Messenger with Maurice Byrd Jr. During the conversation, Byrd told her he was 24; and she said she was much younger, in her early teens. An analysis of the girl’s phone revealed Byrd knowingly exposed himself and sent the photos to the girl on messenger between November 17 and 18, 2019.
A warrant has been requested, and Byrd has been charged with a Class E Felony for Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child under 15- First Offense.
Byrd’s initial appearance is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
