A Boonville man has been charged with several felonies relating to an alleged incident on March 19.
According to a probable-cause statement, Joe Ray Ford got into an argument with his girlfriend in their shared apartment. During the argument, the girlfriend threw a bottle of water that possibly hit Ford in the shoulder. Ford then threw a lamp that missed his girlfriend. Ford then charged her and punched her multiple times in the face near her left eye. Ford also had broken the woman’s phone screen earlier when he became upset and threw it on the ground. And, after hitting the woman, Ford took away her phone when she told him she was going to call the police.
Ford has been charged with Class B Felonies for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt and Burglary in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $75,000 cash or surety.
Ford entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on March 24. His next hearing is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
