The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will close the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs until after 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 and 5, during a special managed youth turkey hunt.
A news release says the managed youth turkey hunts give youngsters a chance to learn hunting techniques and safety.
MDC’s Burr Oak Woods Nature Center already is closed as a precaution due to the COVID-19 virus. The entire conservation area surrounding the center will be closed during the youth turkey hunt, including all trails and roads.
Trails and roads at the area will reopen for public use after 1 p.m. on April 4 and 5, after the close of the youth turkey hunting hours. The nature center will remain closed until April 15, and MDC will reassess the situation at that point.
