The Saline County Health Department has issued a COVID-19 Mitigation Order for the entire county.
Administrator Tara Brewer explains.

Brewer says this is the best thing that can be done at this point.

To continue the effort to minimize the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Saline County Health Department has issued a Mitigation Order that went into effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2020.
The Order states that all public and private social gatherings of greater than ten (10) persons are prohibited, except for members of the same household or residence and for medical treatment facilities, pharmacies, grocery stores and other retailers providing household goods as a substantial portion of their business – so long as appropriate accommodations for social distancing are in place.
The Order goes on to say, playgrounds and skate parks will be closed, whether indoor or outdoor; however, all other public outdoor recreation areas are encouraged to remain open.
Any person that is sick or having a communicable disease and members of that person’s household or residence shall remain isolated or quarantined at home, unless seeking medical treatment from a licensed medical provider; this includes persons told by a physician or a health department official to stay home.
Failure to comply with this order constitutes an imminent threat to public health and shall be a class A misdemeanor violation of state law. Violators could face up to one year in the county jail, and or a fine up to $2,000. Additional penalties may apply for causing the evacuation, quarantine or closure of a building, when someone causes fear that a condition exists involving danger to life. These penalties can range from up to one year in the county jail or up to seven years in the Department of Corrections, and or a fine up to $10,000.
This Order is in effect until 11:59 p.m. April 30, 2020.
