On Wednesday, Lafayette County Health Department confirmed one new case of COVID-19, bringing the total to 25 cases in Lafayette County.
The department also reports that nine of of the confirmed cases have recovered. There has been one death since testing began.
Numbers of total cases reported at the state and federal level show differently. This is due to data entry and address problems in the state’s computer system that are being addressed.
The Lafayette County Health Department continues to work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and the CDC to identify and contact anyone who may have come into close contact with the individual confirmed cases while they were infectious.
It is absolutely vital that each individual follows these measures.
· Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
· Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
· Stay home if you are sick
· Cover coughs and sneezes using your elbow or shoulder rather than your hands
· Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently
Residents are urged to continue to follow current stay-at-home orders to help protect those in their household and in the community.
Stay home if you can. If you are working, be sure you are working at a safe distance from co-workers. If you need groceries or other household necessities get what you need. Enjoy the outdoors for fresh air. Follow social distancing when away from home. Don’t invite over people for social gatherings.
If you suspect that you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, It is critical that your provider or hospital is aware you may have COVID-19 prior to your arrival at a healthcare facility and that you follow all instructions for arriving at a healthcare facility.
