In addition to approving a “State of Emergency Proclamation” for the county during its emergency meeting on Tuesday, April 7, the Saline County Commission took care of some other items, as well.
According to unofficial meeting minutes, the commission approved a request made by Sheriff Cindi Mullins to promote part-time cook Cathy Holloway a full-time cook at the Saline County Jail with benefits. That request was approved retroactive to Monday, April 6.
Also, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced an advertisement has been placed by Rhodes Engineering, requesting bids for installing the water line at junction of U.S. Highway 65 and I-70. The bids are scheduled to be opened at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the commission chambers, with sealed bids being dropped off or mailed to County Clerk Debbie Russell.
And Russell reports absentee voting is ongoing for the Municipal Election. It originally was set to take place on Tuesday, April, 7, but has been postponed until Tuesday, June 2, due to the COVID-19 Crisis.
Russell says: “We encourage voters consider absentee voting by mail rather than in person, but we accommodate both methods. We ask that constituents call the office for any service we provide before coming in; that way options can be given them in an effort to maintain social distancing.”
Russell’s office can be reached at (660) 886-3331.
