The Lafayette County Health Department today, confirmed another case of COVID-19.
According to a news release, this makes a total of 28 positive cases confirmed in Lafayette County.
County health officials also report ten people have recovered. Officials also note number of total cases reported at the state and federal level may show differently. This is due to data entry and address problems in the state’s computer system that we are working on resolving.
The Lafayette County Health Department continues to work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and the CDC to identify and contact all people who may have come into close contact (prolonged contact less than six feet away) with the individual confirmed cases while they were infectious.
The patients have been quarantined at home since the initial test. No further information will be provided about these individuals by the Health Department.
If you suspect that you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, call your healthcare provider to let them know before seeking care. It is critical that your provider is aware you may have COVID-19 prior to your arrival at a healthcare facility and that you follow all instructions for arriving.
It is absolutely vital that each individual follows these measures.

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Cover coughs and sneezes using your elbow or shoulder rather than your hands
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently

People are urged to continue to follow current stay-at-home orders to help protect those in their household and in the community. Stay home if you can. If you are working, be sure you are working at a safe distance from co-workers. If you need groceries or other household necessities get what you need. Enjoy the outdoors for fresh air. Follow social distancing when away from home.  Don’t invite over people for social gatherings.
