Several money-related items were talked about during the meeting of the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen on Monday, April 13.
According to unofficial meeting minutes, it is estimated the city will receive $100,000 from the Develop Saline County Sales Tax. The board voted to put $5,000 of the money toward the Chamber House Project and $120,000 toward removal of sludge. City Clerk Michelle Fuehring explained the money estimated to be spent is always higher, then the city can make decisions on what to delete from the list at a later date.
By a 3-1 vote, the board approved a request to pay an additional $5,000 to McClure Engineering Company for engineering costs incurred for sludge issues.
Fuehring also noted the city received two bids for a motor. The board voted to approve the lowest bid of $4,250, which includes a three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, from Bryan Dillon. That vote was 3-1, as well.
In other business, the board voted to approve a request by the Sweet Springs Fair Board to hold Gusher Days July 22-25. Included, aldermen approved the request to close Main Street from Patrick to Springs Streets; and Miller Street from Main Street to Lexington Street and Turner Street. Also included in the request is the use of the city hall lobby for exhibits and bingo and a liquor license.
