The Association of American Educators Foundation (AAEF), a 501(c)(3) organization supporting the mission of the Association of American Educators (AAE), a national professional association serving educators in all 50 states, has announced a special cycle of its National Teacher Scholarship and Classroom Grant Program is now open through May 15, 2020, for all full-time educators impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to a news release, the AAEF National Teacher Scholarship and Classroom Grant Program has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to support educators’ professional development goals and classroom needs. The program typically awards grants twice a year, following application deadlines in March and October, but has opened a special cycle to support educators during school closures. Individual scholarships and grants are for up to $500 to support projects addressing educators’ immediate needs due to school closures, and how to best serve students when schools reopen.
The AAEF COVID-19 Relief Scholarship and Grant Program is available to all full-time educators. Proposals will be evaluated and grants awarded on a rolling basis. AAE Foundation has not set a limit on the total amount to be awarded and will accept contributions from grant-making organizations to extend the program to serve as many educators as possible.
Funding proposal submissions can include:
· Costs related to the implementation of distance learning during school closures;
· Professional development costs related to obtaining new skills;
· Materials, programs, or projects related to the reopening of schools after the pandemic; or
· Materials, programs, or projects that integrate new ideas, knowledge or resources into the classroom once schools reopen.
