Two Sedalia residents have been charged with felonies relating to a theft reported on Monday, April 13.
According to a probable-cause statement, a Sedalia Police Officer stopped a vehicle being driven by 32-year-old Wesley Franken. Officers found several items, including chainsaws and blades that matched the items reported stolen from LifePointe Church on West Broadway Boulevard inside the vehicle. Authorities also located brass knuckles and drug-related items.
The chainsaws totaling $1,350 in value were returned to the church.
Franken and 35-year-old Nichole Paxton have been charged with Class D Felonies for Stealing of $750 or More and Possession of a Controlled Substance; and a misdemeanor for possession of an illegal weapon. Bond for Franken has been set at $25,000 and for Paxton at $15,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each subject is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
